Our Chile Powder

Grown from the seeds of a variety of chile pepper cultivated in the French commune of Espelette, our piment d'ville basque red chile powder will add just the right "kick" to your recipes.

 

Our chile powder has a spiciness that is characterized by a bold, warm flavor. Try adding it in to your soups or sauces.  Piment d'ville basque red chile powder is also great on eggs, fish, meat, on mashed potatoes and other vegetables... heck, we like it on just about everything!

 

We only produce a limited quantity each year from peppers grown with love right here at Bucket Ranch.   Once harvested by hand, our chiles are hung on cords to dry. This dries the chiles slowly... giving them a full-bodied, mature flavor. They are then coarsely ground into a bright red powder.

At Bucket Ranch, we live on and care for the land we farm, utilizing sustainable agricultural techniques to produce healthful food without compromising future generations' ability to do the same. 

 

The inspiration for what we grow comes from the concept of terroir.  At its core, terroir is the assumption that the land from which agricultural products are grown imparts a unique quality that is specific to that growing site.  We couldn’t agree more – and that is why Bucket Ranch was established where it is, nestled in the foothills of Mendocino County, inland from the Pacific coastline.  It is a bucolic setting surrounded by Redwood forests and vineyards… the perfect terroir.

 

In France there is a concept known as Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (AOC).  This translates as "controlled designation of origin" and is the French certification granted to certain French geographies for agricultural products.  At Bucket Ranch we have our own concept of AOC.  For us, AOC means Apples, Olives and Chile peppers.  And fittingly, the chile pepper we grow is the Espelette pepper (“Piment d'Espelette” in French) – which is a variety of chile pepper cultivated in the french commune of Espelette.

Our Olive Oil

We grow and harvest our olives with the same care that wine makers apply to their grapes - and that creates the freshest and best tasting olive oil you've ever had.  Since Anderson Valley is a cool climate olive region, machine shaking or mechanical harvesting just doesn't work. We harvest the old fashion way, one olive at a time.

 

Our handmade olive oil is crafted from olives that are grown and harvested at Bucket Ranch. The flavor of our fresh olive oil is bursting with rustic charm and you'll find it far superior to any supermarket oil.

 

Our Bucket Ranch Olive Oil is great for dipping and putting on just about anything.
